In addition, the Pre-Game Block Party will feature a Birds Alumnus every away game.
Visitors to the Block Party can also play tailgate games such as Jenga, Cornhole, Connect Four, Go Birds Photo booth and the WIP Spin Wheel of Prizes.
The Mayfair Business Improvement District and SportsRadio 94WIP saw this new partnership as an opportunity. They aim to celebrate the Birds and their first season as defending world champions. More than 30,000 people flocked to the intersection of Frankford and Cottman Avenues when the Birds won the championship. So, it is the ideal spot to host this Official Away Game Block Party.
“The Mayfair Business Improvement District (BID) is very excited to host the WIP Go Birds team, neighbors and Birds fans from all over the Delaware Valley, during every away game with a party that only Mayfair can throw,” said Mayfair BID Executive Director, Marc Collazzo. “The corner of Frankford and Cottman is iconic when it comes to Philadelphia sports and championships, and now it will be synonymous with the Birds Pre-Game.” Added Collazzo, “This will be a party atmosphere. Every away game will feature something new, such as a different Birds Alumni player, tailgate games, food, and fun.”
“This is also an excellent opportunity for the businesses along the corridor to get involved by sponsoring the events. Art History 101, Factory Donuts, and Dunphy Ford are all co-sponsors, with a few others coming on board,” said Collazzo.
The Mayfair Business Improvement District is sponsored by Councilman Bobby Henon, Go Puff, Dunphy Ford, and Republic Bank. Make it Mayfair!
