Seward Johnson

Statues extended through the end of November 2023!

Nine sculptures have been placed by artist Seward Johnson in various locations around the Mayfair corridor – a collaboration between the Mayfair Business Improvement District and The Seward Johnson Atelier.

This art installation was initiated by the Mayfair Business Improvement District, which seeks to foster a vibrant and inviting commercial district within Mayfair through activities including cleaning and public safety activities, marketing and capital improvements.

Seward Johnson’s artwork is world renowned with pieces placed internationally; however, this will be the very first time that a Seward Johnson Atelier exhibit has ever been showcased in Philadelphia, and we’re bringing it to Mayfair!

About Steward Johnson

Seward Johnson born in New Jersey, and following the auspicious clipping of a newspaper ad for a beginner’s sculpture class, became well-known worldwide for his figurative sculptures.

Spurred to strengthen communities through his artwork, Seward built an international community of artists with the Johnson Atelier, which continues to weave his sculpture into the fabric of everyday life through music, dance, poetry, food, all the things Seward loved.
