MED Week Virtual Event: More Than a Paycheck – How to Engage and Retain Employees

As part of MED Week, the Department of Commerce’s Office of Business Services is hosting a virtual event, More Than Just a Paycheck- How to Engage and Retain Employees, on Thursday, October 6th from 10:30am-12:00pm.

This event will provide information, resources, and best practice options to entrepreneurs regarding how to engage and retain employees in this current workforce climate. The event will feature panelist representatives from the Office of Business Services, Workforce Development, the Department of Labor and two business owners who have had much success hiring and retaining their employees over the past few years. Their combined wealth of knowledge will provide business owners with the necessary tools to expand and grow their businesses.

Featured speakers include: Dr. Colona Roberts CEO and founder of the Smart Centers of Child Development & Education, Dominique Shields, owner of Pretty Girls Cook, Obafemi (Femi) Matti, Director of Outreach and Communications from the Office of Worker Protections, Department of Labor, Gianna Grossman, Senior Director of Workforce Development from the Office of the Chief Administrative Officer, Department of Commerce, and Vinh Ho, Business Services Manager from the Office of Business Services.

The event will be moderated by State Representative Donna Bullock and opening remarks will be provided by Michelle Price, Senior Director of the Office of Businesses Services.
