Mayfair Theater Ahead of Schedule for Opening

The New Mayfair Theater is On Target for March Opening

Construction on the Mayfair Theater is moving along ahead of schedule. Lighting and sound are being completed and the date for opening is set for March 15th. The theater holds 100 maximum capacity and once open, will be home to plays, musical appearances, private events, art openings, comedy acts, and moviefests.

Opening Show Almost, Maine

The first show set to premier at the new Mayfair Theater is a play called Almost, Maine, a romantic comedy that comprises several short stories about falling in and out of love in a Northern town in Maine. The show will be performed by a local theatrical group, Wings of Paper. Artistic Director, John Cambridge states that Wings of Paper is a new community theater organization who will provide on-going programming with local talent.

Black Box Theater?

The Mayfair Theater is commonly referred to as a “black box,” because of the black walls and open space, the theater lends itself to a variety of purposes.

According to Mayfair Business Improvement District Executive Director, Marc Collazzo, “We are opening the Mayfair Theater for a variety of reasons, including bringing people to Mayfair who may not realize the hidden gem it is. Theater goers will find places like the new brew pub set to open in the Spring, Luck Cat Brewing Co., Factory Donuts, Rauchut’s Tavern, Art History 101, Grey Lodge Pub, the new King’s Highway Tavern and so many other great places to shop and dine.”

Collazzo added, “In addition, we will have a venue for local talent to excel and hone their skills.”

Local Artists Gallery

The theater will also be home to the works of locals artists featuring paintings, sculptures, drawings and other visual arts. Granted space on the ground floor of the theater, these artists will now have a place to perfect their crafts and host art openings for the public.

Food & Beverage

Conveniently, located at 6243 Frankford Avenue, local businesses will have the opportunity to sponsor events and sell food and beverages at the Mayfair Theater. Located adjacent to the Luck Cat Brewing Co and surrounded by other Mayfair restaurants and taverns, the possibilities are endless for theater goers from Aya Asian Fusion to Tony’s Famous Tomato Pie and Geno’s Italian Cafe to the Mayfair Diner.

Make it Mayfair!!
