31 Oct Mayfair BID Reauthorization Survey Results & Meeting
2021 MBID Reauthorization Meeting
As we approach our reauthorization, we want to hear from you. We asked businesses within the BID to complete a brief survey to get their input as to the success of our programs, as well as to obtain thoughts as to areas for improvement. Mayfair continues to thrive, and it could not happen without all of your hard-earned invest of your time, talent and treasure into our beloved community. Help us continue to give you the tools to make Mayfair the envy of our region and the example of what a business improvement district can do for a community.
Please join us on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at our office located at Mayfair Community Center at 2990 St Vincent Street, 2nd Floor for a preliminary review of the survey results and discussion to see how we can incorporate your recommendations into action.
Why a BID and What We Achieve Together
The Mayfair Business Improvement District is a dynamic, two (2) mile stretch on Frankford Avenue, from Harbison to Sheffield Avenues, as well as short a block in each direction on Cottman Avenue. Please see About Us for the specifics, as well as the attached Ordinance and Annual Report of our community development accomplishments in our densely-populated, working class neighborhood. Our geocentric location provides easy ingress/egress for motor vehicles, bicycles, public transportation, and access from the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge (onto Levick Street). It has been the birthplace of several local iconic institutions including, but not limited to, Chickie’s and Pete’s, Philly Pretzel Factory, Giggles Gifts, Stein Your Florist, and the Mayfair Diner. In addition, it has spawned new, unique, thriving gems, such as Factory Donuts, the Grey Lodge, the House of Thai, Emma’s Italian Cuisine, Art History 101, and Frank’s Gourmet Burgers and Steaks….just to name a few. We have accomplished so much since our inception in 2016, including our second nomination for “Non-Profit of the Year” for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence Awards as well as receiving the honor of “Business of the Year” by our Police District Service Area (PDAC). Our events at Frankford and Cottman, such as the “Mayfair Grand Prix”, “Glamour Along the Avenue (Fashion Show)”, “Mayfair Thriller Night”, and the “Go Birds Pre-Game Show and Tailgate Party with WIP”, are a spectacle to behold, and have brought thousands of excited patrons to our commercial corridor. When you include the over 300 retail and professional services along the Avenue, as well as our possible expansion of our geographic parameters along Frankford Avenue to Welsh Road, I believe that this is a thoroughfare that will only grow in stature and activity!
